About Kelly

Kelly Vivanco was born and raised in front of a sketchpad and a box of colors in Southern California where she later received her BFA with honors from LCAD. Kelly enjoys setting whimsy to work in many mediums and pulls inspiration from the natural and imagined world, vintage photographs, children’s literature and the oddness of her dreams.

Kelly lives and works in Escondido, California, and currently maintains a working studio in the Distinction building. A sampling of the solo and in group exhibitions include showings at the California Center for the Arts Museum, The Portsmouth Museum of Art, Thinkspace, SURU, Gallery 1988, Subtext, Rotofugi, Flatcolor, 323 East, London Miles, Art Basel and Orange County Center for Contemporary Arts. Her work is held in collections across the U.S. and abroad.

For Mark Warren Jacques, life is a wave, a fluid energy that washes over us all, binding and defining. The universe is a four lane sidewalk of constant flux, upon the surface of which we must all skate. One night he told me the story of how, searching for answers, he visited a monastery in the Midwest. There was an admiration and peace in the way he described the labor, commitment, belief, kindness and serenity that united this group. These are the forces that bind Mark to life, a commitment to searching and questioning, to finding life’s greatest secrets in the dusty unused corners of a crowded room. A life of talking to monks and bike messengers, Marks eye is tuned equally to the charms of the wise and the insane: the punk and the philosopher, the prophet and the crackpot.

Mark’s paintings trace the lines that connect us all into playful lazy circles. We teleport from front porches and beaches to the mind’s eye of an imaginary temple.

We dive headfirst into the sizzling black of space and the warm kind heart of the earth. Trees, veins, sunrays and waves comingle in a dazzling heap of good vibes and ancient wisdom.

The artist’s vocabulary is steeped in the trappings of mysticism, religion, Midwestern folk tradition and west coast vibes. His paintings are of alters and sacred regalia. Symbols of the planet and of humanity serve as a universal mandala. There is a sense of old school bay area psychedelic optimism and of the hyperbole of Saturday morning cartoons, but also a hard edged intensity hinting at basement shows, and long nights. Here is the serious, pensive labor of the acetic, the brow furrowed dedication of painstaking craft. The sobriety of this commitment is tempered by the joy filled high fives of an artist thirsty for experience.

With an eye to the interstellar and the unimagined, the artist is a dogged painter of the everyday. Triangles, and mind melting rays of color anthropomorphize the thoughts, people places and struggles of daily life. It is from the fabric of personal experience that the artist weaves his singsong narratives. The painter is a collector, his body of work a permanent museum housing the psychic ephemera from a life well lived. Form, thought and feeling fuze into one indiscernible ball of color and light. To observe is to create and to create is to live.

Communicating, creating and sharing are the building blocks of his art practice and of his daily life. A celebration of the mundane and the magical, for Mark to see is to conceive.

Mike Wagner Interview for this weeks opening

We are extremely excited to host Mike Wagner's latest body of work "Licht und Blindheit" at Flatcolor Gallery March 3rd through 31st.

Recently we sat down with Mike and asked him a few questions about his upcoming show...

Tell us about what got you interested in painting. What were some of your early influences?

"I came back to Seattle from NYC, and my mom bought me painting supplies, she thought it would cheer me up. The I had a mate that was really into Francis Bacon and from there I saw Lucian Freud. when I was younger I was introduced to Chuck Close, I really dig that stuff, Gerhard Richter too."

What sort of schooling did you attend for art? Did this help shape you as an artist, or were there other influences?
"I went to central for a few semesters, just drifting around no plans, then I got the idea I could be a graphic designer, so I applied to Parsons, got in, went there for a while until I was asked to leave. As for painting I'm pretty much self taught aside from the classes at central."

You seem to like to paint mostly on large canvases, is there any reason why you prefer this large scale?
"I like the confrontation that a big painting has, a little painting, you can view it on your own terms, the big painting just punches you in the face, no conversation."

What sort of process goes on when you're creating your work? Do you have a pre-planned idea for your work?
"I have an idea of what I'm going for, I like to leave it to chance the Bob Ross-happy-accident-school-of-thought."

Tell us a little more about the title of your show "Licht und Blindheit"?

What is this meaning behind this and how does it describe this body of work?
"It based on Oedipus the king by Sophocles, One of the themes is of sight and blindness, and ignorance and knowledge, and Oedipus looseing his sight on seeing the light."

What is your view on the art scene in Seattle? What would you like to see happen in the future?
"I think people in Seattle really like to see flowers having sex via pollination. I myself would like to see less flower porn... But I'm just some guy."

What other projects are you currently working on? What can we expect to see from you this year and beyond?
"I don't like to talk about things until they are happening, if I do and it falls through I end up looking like a twonk."

Flatcolor Gallery is proud to presents A Solo Exhibition of new works from Baso Fibonacci.

Baso has been burning up the local art scene in the last couple years with a room at the City Hostel, Art shows all over town and, a gigantic mural on Capitol Hill. Chances are you've seen his work.

For his Flatcolor Solo exhibition, Baso will feature his signature mirror paintings of brightly colored meticulous geometric shapes as well as a series of pieces inspired by the animals of the Northwest.

About Baso:

Baso paints to try to stop boredom, to make money, so people will like him, and cause he finds it to be one of the only things he really enjoys. He constantly struggles with trying to relate to people and feels that humanity is no different than a society of apes, himself included. It annoys him that everyone seems to think this isn't the case, that there is a deeper meaning to existence and that humans are is some way special. His paintings really don't help them or himself, he just doesn't know what else to do.

Seattle artist EGO has a great show lined up for October at Flatcolor.
Here is his insight into the show.

EGO's Artist Statement:

Eventually, You Run Out Of Tomorrows..." is really just a kind of affirmation, intended to remind me to keep my eye on the big picture. The title does very little to actually describe the images presented in the exhibition.

The work is the product of my desire to strip my process down to the basic framework, using, mainly, graphite on paper... To let the structure show its ability (or lack thereof) to stand on its own as a whole, without the polish of the smooth shading and highlights I've come to rely on to make a piece feel complete.

You will see a host of characters, that inhabit the ever expanding world of my imagination. Some that may look very familiar, and some that are complete strangers.

It's probably best that we get to view their world, from the relative safety of ours, because, while most of these characters seem to have a sort of innocent charm...some of them would still, likely, bite first, and ask questions later.

In September, Seattle artist Joe Vollan will be exhibiting a new series of paintings featuring his signature style of surreal, steam-punk landscapes inhabited by skeletal figures, animals and robots.

Joe’s images, seemingly bizarre snapshots of a forgotten cartoon or fairy tale, engage the viewer through iconic characters, bright colors, unexpected details and juxtapositions. Steam-punk airships hover as a skeletal rickshaw driver takes a shortcut through a forgotten cemetery lit by the lamplight of mechanical birds. Each composition provides a scene that is at once dark and whimsical.

A local favorite, Joe has shown extensively throughout Seattle and has previously shown at Flatcolor, Roq La Rue, BLVD, Gallery fifty24SEA, as well as nationally at Alpha Cult and, Copro Nason Gallery.

Jose Rodriguez III is an American painter based in Seattle, Washington. He studied illustration at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and returned to the North West where he paints landscapes, animals, and female form, ranging from fantasy to realism all while maintaining his distinctive style. His influences include the works of Frank Frazetta, Sargent, and Henry Yan. When not painting you can usually find him sculpting or combing the beaches and forests with a camera in hand looking for his next source of inspiration.

El Kamino
El Kamino is an American painter hailing from the state of Virginia. Becoming involved with graffiti in the mid nineties, he has developed a signature style that has taken on many forms over the years. While maintaining a presence in the world of wall painting, he is a veteran of DIY art shows; displaying canvases in small towns across the south east. An avid fisherman, his gallery work focuses on the animals he encounters along the creeks and rivers he frequents.

The interaction of birds, snakes and fish; presented in a manner that combines religious iconography with illustration. Good and evil, life and death, nature and technology. His paintings attempt to capture the constant struggle of opposing forces, demonstrated through the use of his surrounding wildlife.

Flatcolor Gallery is proud to presents a solo exhibition featuring the work of Timothy Karpinski on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 from 5-9pm.

"This Feels Right" by Timothy Karpinski features his signature themes of love, friendship and kindness rendered in compositions of cut paper, pastel colors and detailed graphite drawing. In Timothy Karpinski's world the viewers sense of wonder and innocence are set free as friends share a pot of tea on a rainy day, hot air balloons elevate lovers to new heights and float upon clouds on a moonlit night.

Artist Statement:
From a young age ive always been making things. Building forts turned into building skate ramps which lead to building art installations. I love the art making process, from the initial spark of the "idea", the creation to the finished product. Art for me is very personal and everything i make is a direct reflection on my feelings about this world and my struggle and fascination with trying to understand it and find my purpose within it. I currently live, love and work in Portland oregon where i run Together Gallery and work in my studio till very late at night making art about love. I am also figuring things out:)

Timothy J. Karpinski grew up near the Appalachian Trail in the woods of New Jersey. As a child he was obsessed with building forts and damming streams. As time passed, skateboarding and art entered the picture. To this day, Karpinski still spends much of his time building forts, damming streams, skateboarding and making art. Inspiration also comes from his love of music, outer space, typography, yoga, gardening, children’s books, graffiti, and his love of nature and science. All of these elements are reflected in his work. Karpinski is that rare combo of ‘dreamer’ and ‘doer’. Many encompass one of these traits, seldom both. He is a master of wit, a lover of folk and owner of one of the finest art reference libraries this side of the Mississippi. Karpinski is currently living the dream in Portland, OR where he runs Together Gallery, holds down both a fort and a sailboat… and somehow still finds time to make some art and dam some streams.

Karpinski’s work has shown with White Walls (San Francisco), Stumptown Gallery (Portland), Flatcolor Gallery (Seattle), Together Gallery (Portland), and Lab 101 (Los Angeles) to name but a few and has also been profiled in such high profile events as Brave Art 2007 (Whistler, BC) and at art fairs including GenArt Vanguard 2008 in Miami with Thinkspace and this December’s Aqua Art Miami with White Walls and Shooting Gallery.

IN 2004 Karpinski received his BFA focusing in Graphic Design and Painting from Castleton State College in Castleton, VT.

About Mia Nolting
A native Californian, Mia Nolting moved to Portland to attend the Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she earned her BFA in 2008. In addition to recent illustration projects for The New York Times Magazine, Americorps, and Penguin Books, Mia has shown work in galleries across the globe over the past three years. Her art has hung in galleries from Tokyo to Los Angeles, Boston to Portland. In addition to participating in exhibitions, Mia has curated a number of shows in Portland. In 2009, Mia and Rachel Pedderson launched &Review, an interactive art-and-literature journal that they publish both online and in print three times a year.

In Parskid's latest solo exhibit at Flatcolor Gallery "Isolated Frontier", he explores a haunting, mesmerizing world based upon mythology, folklore, the cycle of life, and the bounds of the imagination. Grounded in nature and myth, Parskid's iconic characters take the viewer on a journey through ethereal, and other-worldly landscapes.

Flatcolor Gallery is proud to presents the Parskid solo exhibition "Isolated Frontier" on Thursday, May 6th, 2010 from 5-9pm.

From the brightly colored neon to lush earth tones, Parskid's unique execution of spray enamel, and custom stencils bring life to forests, animals, and the environment as they intertwine with spirits, mystical energies and iconic characters to create compositions that are uniquely Parskid.

About Parskid
Parskid has been involved in the Seattle underground art scene for over a decade. Parskid draws inspiration from his childhood, nature, fantasy, and folklore to create haunting, otherworldly landscapes traversed by his iconic characters. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the US, including LA and NYC, and also abroad in France, Australia, Taiwan, Spain, and the UK. His work has been published in the following magazines: Hi-Fructose, King Brown, Art Prostitute, Cool’eh, Novum, Beautiful/Decay, Day in the Lyfe, Belio and Dirty Soup; as well as these published books: Dot Dot Dash, Canceled Flight, War of Monstars, Pictoplasma 2 and Monstaah!.

Do It has been painting since 1996, mostly for the thrill of creeping through the woods and painting on other people's stuff. I'm currently cutting my name out in paper to sell on the black market so you can hang it in your house.

GeeWiz
GeeWiz started painting in in late '97 because sucked at basketball and wanted to impress girls. He enjoys long walks on the tracks, cell phone lit back packs, an occasional rainier beer, and the the combined smell of brake dust, diesel and rusting steel. When he is not cutting paper or painting trains you can find GeeWiz going through your garbage looking for clues or at your local train yard documenting the days catch. GeeWiz is also an amateur photographer, carpenter, and little league umpire.

Along with the work of Dave MacDowell and Augie Pagan; Flatcolor will be hosting a comic book inspired group show "Sidekicks & Henchmen" in March.

"Sidekicks & Henchmen" is a comic book themed exhibition focused on comic book characters outside of the Hollywood movie heroes and villains. Local and national artists are invited to show work inspired by lesser-known comic book characters sidekicks, henchmen, heroes and villains.

This is a show we've wanted to do since opening and we're excited to see the fun ways folks bring some of the unsung characters to their art! This show features artists both in and outside the comic book world and is sure to be a fun addition to our March Line-up.

To coincide with the Emerald City Comicon weekend we will be having a special artists reception March 13th from 6-10pm.

Flatcolor Gallery presents the work of Dave MacDowell and Augie Pagan on Thursday, March 4th, 2010 from 5-9pm.

Additionally Flatcolor will be hosting a comic book themed group show in the loft area; "Sidekicks & Henchmen" celebrating artistic interpretations of the lesser known characters in the comic book world.

Dave MacDowell
Dave MacDowell's Lowbrow/ Pop Surrealism art focuses on childhood fantasy and our contemporary cultural nightmares. From his paintings of "Miseryland", an acid-drenched satire of Disney and America's celebrity worship to, repeated themes of Samuel L. Jackson and Jack Nicholson ; Dave's work holds up a carnival mirror to a media-obsessed American dream that is spinning out of control.

David MacDowell was raised by a television set, and soaked in culture like a sponge. A self-taught artist, he incorporates media and social themes into brilliant and controversial satirical paintings. Never afraid of tapping into the dark side of American media worship, he tops off celebrity renderings with crying babies, candy colored nightmares, and a hilariously acidic sense of humor. Some have called his work a virtual “Disneyland on acid”. By bravely peeling away the veneer of pop culture, he validates the abused underbelly of society with x-ray glasses. With an ever-expanding list of international clientele, David’s work can be found in Atlanta, California, Florida and now Washington!

Augie Pagan
Hailing from the California Bay Area, Augie Pagan moved to Seattle to attend art school with the hopes of becoming an illustrator and/or comic book artist. Fate had another plan however, and Augie soon found himself working in the world of video games. After many years of creating art for various video game companies, Augie decided to test the shark filled waters of a freelance artist. Since then, Augie has been self employed as a freelancer, and has been slowly making his way into the alternative art scene by pursing gallery work. His art has been displayed in group shows locally as well as LA, SF, and NY. Augie also hates the term "alternative art" and can't stand writing about himself in the third person.

"Most of the images in my work usually pull from a variety of pop-culture references that shaped my imagination as a child. Recently I've been delving deeper past pop-culture, and exploring my own culture, by re-examining events from my past, and merging them with my influences from the present. These current pieces serve as my own personal "Mexican Pulp" covers for stories, memories, and ideas from my past, present, and future." - Augie Pagan

About Kinoko
Kinoko is cyber shaman with the eye and the attitude for insouciant illustrative works. Her emotional work is often popping with a fluo palette. Optimistic themes of technology for a tribal society reveal clues to a connected rich spiritual future. Reaching back to ancient societies, Kinoko fantasizes post future lore. Visual influences including the East Village movement of New York 1980's, Super Flat art of Japan, and the New Paradigm Shift of 2012, are blended with studies of native cultures and new primitivism by Kinoko inspiring a quest towards a balanced, aware and positive relationship with both technology and biology.

Kinoko is an illustrator, painter, screen printer, DJ and cyclist. She is originally from Philadelphia where she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She has lived in Japan and in the US, and currently, resides in Cascadia, Pacific Northwest. Kinoko has been in group shows in Europe, Canada, Japan and the U.S. She is always looking for more art challenges to feed her drawing addiction.

Flatcolor Gallery presents the work of three Seattle painters; Jesse Edwards, Chris Sheridan and Jeffrey Taylor on Thursday, January 7th, 2010 from 5-9pm.

Jesse Edwards
Jesse Edwards will be exhibiting a new series of oil paintings inspired by mosaics each exploring images of personal significance. Iconic images have been deconstructed into an elaborate, pixelation of impressionistic, impasto squares. Raw emotion and the medium bring an analog context to images digital in inspiration. Edwards will additionally showcase other new works.

Jesse Edwards is a Seattle based artist who focuses on unconventional still-life, nudes, ceramics and many other subjects and media to express his creative vision. He has exhibited his work thoughout Seattle including Woodside Braseth Gallery, BLVD Gallery, Vain Gallery, Bumbershoot Arts Festiva, Gallery 110, Kimzey Miller Gallery and Douglas Frazier Fine Art. He has been featured in many publications including Vice, Seattle Magazine, City Arts, Seattle Times, The Stranger and Frank.

Chris Sheridan
Chris Sheridan presents a series of new work entitled "The King of Change" inspired by fairy tales and folklore describing the roll of Death as a guide and steward of souls.

"This body of work explores the ordinary routine of Death. Far from the embodiment of evil as seen by many cultures, I see Death as a part of each of us, ever present, tasked with maintaining a balance on life, and guiding us through a series of changes. The act of death is not an end, it is the beginning of the next stage in our soul’s journey; Death is merely waiting for the point at which we are ready to leave the Earthly constraints of our bodies, and guide us to the next stage. For this I have called him, and the body of work, The King of Change.

There are many places I have drawn my ideas of Death from, recently it was my reading of the Grimm’s Fairytale, “Godfather Death.” In early Germanic traditions he was seen as the keeper of a vast hall of candles, each representing an individual life. As the candle burned, so your life changed, and as the candle started to fizzle near its end, your life became that much closer to its end; upon the extinguishing of your particular flame, Death would make himself known and guide you to the afterlife. This theory of Death as a “guide” has carried over in many other cultures; it has been given the title, Psycopomop, literally meaning the “guider of souls.”

In these paintings, some explore him, some his actions, some even his interaction with living beings. The candles are a constant. Gone are the ghastly portrayals of him ending life, and the hauntingly empty face of the deceased; instead he is pictured in a dance with the living, sharing in life and in the light."

Chris Sheridan holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Academy of Art College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Ringling School of Art and Design. Chris' work has been exhibited extensively in Seattle and throughout the US including Halogen Gallery, La Familia Gallery and Punch Gallery.

Artists Exhibit Vision of the future in "TWOTHOUSANDTEN" December 3rd at Flatcolor Gallery

Flatcolor Gallery presents the group exhibition "TWOTHOUSANDTEN" on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 from 5-9pm.

Over twenty-five artists will provide a wide array of interpretations exploring what 2010 and beyond will hold. Two years from Armageddon, time of economic crisis or rebound, the year we make contact? Artists are encouraged to stretch the boundaries in their unique and surprising interpretations. From fantastical vision of a steampunk future to meditations on the economy and sociopolitical conditions each artist brings a unique perspective to the exhibition.

Seattle artist Chris Crites' work for the exhibition is a arresting image of a riot cop rendered in his meticulous style and signature substrate of recycled paper bag. Accompanying the image is its equally arresting title: "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." - George Orwell.

"When the theme of an interpretation of what 2010 held in store was proposed by Flatcolor, the only thing that kept ringing in my head was the George Orwell quote about a vision of the future. As we enter yet another year of expanded warfare, economic turmoil and ecological meltdown, I openly admit that I have never been an optimist. I see a world of renewed and constant struggle be it for rights, water, equality or mere sustenance. It's the ongoing struggle against human nature. It will be met with resistance on either end." says Crites.

Train-hopping artist Swampy created a similarly bleak piece for the show depicting an enormous pile of the discarded trappings of commercialism eclipsed by giant crystals growing from the modern day junk pile. While, Seattle artist Chris Sheridan created an image combining visions of the future from his past and present. "As a child, when I thought about 2010 I imagined flying cars, watching the Earth rise, a rocket-ship test pilot… at some point, I even pondered alien pets", Says Sheridan. "I never would have imagined “steampunk” being the rage in the midnight hours of 2009."

Featured artists include several artists who have shown previously at Flatcolor Gallery, as well as many local and national artists to be featured in the coming year.

Ryan Bubnis' clean yet chaotic style has been described as "urban folk." Through his paintings, he comments on themes relating to the human condition. Vibrant, abstracted, shapes and faces radiate joy and optimism, while they float in and out of rich, multi-layered realms.

He holds a BFA in illustration from The Pacific Northwest College of Art, where he now teaches a professional practices course to undergraduate students. He has exhibited his work throughout the US, UK, Canada and Taiwan and has been featured in such publications as Clout, Vapors and Juxtapoz magazines. Some of his clients include KidRobot, Nike, Hasbro, Imperial Motion, and 20th Century Fox. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon.

Ryan De La Hoz was born in 1985 and is based in San Francisco California. He has participated in group exhibitions in the United States as well as the Philippines, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Residual Energies at Flatcolor Gallery is his first ever solo exhibition.

Ryan Bubnis "GHOST MAGIC"

Ryan Bubnis continues to explore themes of openness, spirituality and the subconscious in his solo exhibition, GHOST MAGIC, at Flatcolor. Bubnis has created a brand new series of drawings, paintings, sculptures and a site-specific installation.

“With each new exhibition I take on I really put an effort into pushing myself and my work both stylistically and in content. I relate my process of art making to that of a shaman communicating with the spirit world.” -Ryan Bubnis

Located on First Avenue in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square neighborhood, Flatcolor Gallery features local and national underground contemporary artists in a relaxed gallery setting. From designers and illustrators, to street artists and tattoo artists, Flatcolor Gallery is dedicated to bringing a fresh perspective on art and creativity to Seattle's First Thursday Art Walk each month. Artist statement for "Residual Energies"

Residual Energies analyzes the idea of human nature and existence. The work is an amalgamation of my feelings about the planet, our actions as human
beings, and influences from my childhood (everything from Ninja Turtles Ooze to my Geode Collection) Skeleton gloves act as artifacts of existence that once was. Ladders represent abandoned progress, now being swallowed up and scattered around in a land left behind. I am always exploring the idea of fragility. A bizarre and beautiful world is left desolate for the viewer to take in.

Ryan De La Hoz was born in 1985 and is based in San Francisco California. He has participated in group exhibitions in the United States as well as the Philippines, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Residual Energies at Flatcolor Gallery is his first ever solo exhibition.

More about Ryan Bubnis:

Ryan Bubnis’ clean yet chaotic style has been described as “urban folk.” Through his paintings, he comments on themes relating to the human condition. Vibrant, abstracted, shapes and faces radiate joy and optimism, while they float in and out of rich, multi-layered realms.

He holds a BFA in illustration from The Pacific Northwest College of Art, where he now teaches a professional practices course to undergraduate students. He has exhibited his work throughout the US, UK, Canada and Taiwan and has been featured in such publications as Clout, Vapors and Juxtapoz magazines. Some of his clients include KidRobot, Nike, Hasbro, Imperial Motion, and 20th Century Fox. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon.

EGO Solo Exhibition "Light in the Darkness" at Flatcolor Gallery on October 1st.

Seattle artist EGO will be exhibiting a brand new body of work entitled "Light in the Darkness" at Flatcolor Gallery on October 1st 2009.

His latest work focuses on finely detailed renderings of dark and eerie creeps, creatures, and lost souls; all executed in lighter color palettes. Featuring a cast of the skeletal, albino and all-together bizarre, Ego's work takes you to a dark world where the outcasts and the abnormal are captured in exquisite detail.

EGO has made a name for himself in the underground contemporary art scene through his larger scale aerosol art installations and his smaller, more detailed fine art exhibits as well as his prolific work as a tattoo artist.

EGO has shown extensively throughout Seattle and the west coast and has previously shown at BLVD, Gems, Ronin Gallery, Together Gallery, The Alternative Cafe, and has contributed work to numerous site specific installations including Moore inside/out and, the Seattle City Hostel Project.

EGO artist will be in attendance during the opening reception October 1st, 5-9pm. This show runs through Oct. 31st.

At 112 x 63 inches Robert Hardgrave's "Plexus" demands your attention when you enter the gallery and holds it with its swirling details and vibrant colors.

Here is what Robert had to say about his amazing piece.

"Plexus simply means a network of interlaced parts. I have been considering the idea of how we know very little of how the universe operates, from how gravity holds us in place, to what makes our heart continue to beat. I tend to think there are communications between elements we couldn't even fathom to understand. It seems the more we know the more questions come about. However, it seems everything is connected in some way, creating this mind boggling network that we can only guess as to how it works. Plexus represents this mystery which I find thrilling."
